When she decided to pursue an evening course in business management she was assigned a project of researching a profession, both nationally and locally. Because she had been helped by a competent and caring chiropractor, and because she was curious about the nearby college, she chose to research the chiropractic profession. As she gathered facts about chiropractic and visited with local chiropractors, she became more and more impressed with the professionalism and dedication of chiropractors. During a visit to the college, she was able to interview interns and tour the anatomy labs. Adding to her excitement was a chance meeting with Dr. Janse, one of the "founding fathers" of modern chiropractic. By the time she finished her class paper, she was convinced that she wanted to become a chiropractor! She completed her pre-med courses on the way to a B.S. degree with high honors at Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL). She then enrolled at National College of Chiropractic where she earned a B.S. in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1990. In 1991, Dr. Colfer completed the rigorous examinations to become licensed to practice in Oregon and started her practice here in Eugene. Each year she attends continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest chiropractic research and practice methods.
